Matica XDI 8300 encoder installation and setup

Purpose

The following document aims to provide a step by step guide on how to change the encode of the Matica XID 8300 and configure the printer to recognized said printer

Printer disassembly

  1. Dismantle the back printer cover and remove the MG Unit if installed

    • This can be achieved by removing the 2 screws on the back of the printer as well as the screw located under the top opening

  2. With the cover now removed, please remove the top 2 screws and carefully remove the Shield Plate A

  1. Remove the 2 screws from the Security board

  2. Unplug wires B and C

  1. Remove the Anntena Bracket

Encoder installation

  1. Fasten the 2 plastic screws and the 2 metal screws as shown below

 

  1. Connect the Contactless Controller Module by plugging in USB cable

  • A table tie is available here for easier cable management

  1. Connect the Contactless Controller Module to the main printer board

  1. Mount the Anntena Bracket and the Security Board using the 4 screws set aside during the disassembly step

 

  1. Reconnect the cables that were disconnected during the disassembly step

Printer configuration

The following steps require you to have the printer drivers installed

  1. Download and install the XID8300 Maintenance tool

  2. Open the XID8300 Maintenance tool

  3. Select Printer Select

  4. Click on Scan Printer

  5. Click on Exit

  1. Back on the main menu click on Service Mode

  2. On the window that opened locate IC Anntena and in the drop-down box next to it select Installed

  3. Click on Exit

Testing configuration

  1. On the XID8300 Maintenance tool

  2. Click on Printer Select

  3. Select Scan Printer

  4. Press Exit

  5. Back on the main menu select Self test

  6. Click on Feed/Encoder Test

  7. In the drop-down below select IC Contactless test

  8. Click in Execute, the printer should pull the card and using a tool like PCSCDiag2 you’ll be able to check if the encoder was able to read the ATR code of the provided card
