Production Workflow

Product Workflow in Detail

Throughout the life cycle of a credential in Controller, it can move through several states. Each state represents a different phase in the credential’s processing and can be managed accordingly.

  1. Initialized:

    • The credential has been created and will appear in the Approve for Production tab.

    • You can move the credential to the In Production state to initiate printing.

    • If necessary, the credential can be deleted from the Approve for Production tab.

  2. In Production:

    • The credential is awaiting printing and will now appear in the Print tab.

    • When you log into Press, you can print the credential. If using HID Fargo Connect, you can print directly from the Print tab.

    • To move the credential back to the Initialized state, the API must be used.

  3. Printed:

    • The credential has been printed and will now appear in the Approve for Issuance tab.

    • You can either:

      • Approve the credential, moving it to the Approved state, or

      • Disapprove the credential, moving it back to the In Production state for reprinting.

  4. Approved:

    • The credential is now in the Approved state and will appear in the Activate tab.

    • You can now mark the credential as Activated.

  5. Activated:

    • The credential is now active and will no longer appear in the Production screen.

    • You can move the credential between the Expired and Activated states by modifying the end date.

    • The credential can also be moved between the Blocked and Activated states by editing the credential in Controller, or by a stand user marking it as lost via Stand.

  6. Blocked:

    • Credentials in the Blocked state can be managed through the Credential tab under the respective person’s record in the People screen.

  7. Expired:

    • Credentials in the Expired state can be managed through the Credential tab under the person’s record in the People screen.

  8. Withdrawn:

    • When a record is archived and it contains a credential in the Initialized, In Production, Printed, or Approved state, the credential will be marked as Withdrawn.

    • Once a credential is in the Withdrawn state, it cannot be moved to any other state. A new credential will need to be created if required.
