Opening Port 5093 for SBS Installations

Overview

Sometimes when having difficulties with doing a SBS install, Port 5093 is blocked preventing access to the license manager.

This article explains how to open Port 5093 on your machine.

Opening Windows Firewall Ports

Login to server hosting the license manager with Admin privileges OR ensure that an IT Administrator is available to provide the Admin privileges.

Open Windows Search.

Type: WINDOWS FIREWALL WITH ADVANCED SECURITY

Note:

If you are not the Administrator on this machine, you will need to enter the Administrator password before you can continue to access and modify the Firewall rules.

Once access to WINDOWS FIREWALL WITH ADVANCED SECURITY has been gained, click on INBOUND RULES in the upper left side window.

Click NEW RULE. You’ll see this option on the right side of the window.

Check the PORT option.

Click NEXT.

Select UDP port option.

Select SPECIFIC LOCAL PORTS option.

Manually enter the port range. The Sentinel RMS License Manager Requires UDP PORT 5093 to be OPEN to allow access by the clients to request and be granted a license.

Click NEXT.

Make sure ALLOW THE CONNECTION is checked.

Click NEXT.

Make sure the three boxes on the PROFILE PAGE are checked. These include the DOMAIN, PRIVATE and the PUBLIC boxes.

Click NEXT.

Enter a NAME for the RULE created. Name the rule “CardExchange RMS Sentinel License Manager” and provide a brief description for the RULE.

Click FINISH.
