Visitor Actions - Assign Barcode

You may want to create barcodes for all of your visitors. These are useful for quickly setting up registrations, or assigning unique identifiers for the different types of visitors you may have.

After a barcode has been assigned, you can scan a printed version of it to automatically search for a Visitor with that Barcode information.

We have three options to choose from when assigning a barcode.

Scan

If a barcode already exists that you would like to use, simply use a connected scanner to read the barcode. The application will then store that information in the Barcode field in the database.

Generate

This will generate a random value to be assigned to the Barcode.

By default, the barcode is a Numeric (0-9) 12 digit number that does not expire.

Use Column

A barcode will be made using information already present in the Database. Select the drop down menu to see a list of options to choose from.

After selecting the method you would like to use to create the barcode, you will be prompted with a success message like this:

Advanced Barcode Options

You can change the default auto-generated barcode options in the Advanced Options. You can change the Character type to be AlphaNumeric (A-Z, 0-9), adjust the character length, and set an expiration date so that new ones will need to be made after a set time.

Revoking a Barcode

Selecting the Revoke barcode function will prompt you if you would like to confirm revoke the barcode from the person record. Keep in mind, this does not DELETE the barcode but sets the barcode value to Expired so that you can at least have a record of the previous barcode, and can renew the barcode later on in which the Barcode database field will be replaced with the new value.
