Overview

This help article is handy for users experiencing issues with CardExchange applications not starting after opening them from the shortcut.

CardExchange Producer uses a variety of different “user.config” files in order to comprise the settings of the application for the user currently logged in. There are config files for settings within the application that determine database connection strings, the user interfaces layout and display, and general application information.

One of the more common issues that relate to these files we’ve seen is the inability to see CardExchange Producer open when you double click on the shortcut, or even when you attempt to open the application as an administrator. An issue like this could be due to a variety of reasons such as Anti-Virus protection software preventing it from opening, group domain restriction not allowing the application to run, or a corrupting User.config file that prevents the application from being able to determine how to open the application and at what window size.

Removing your CardExchange Producer AppData may be able to resolve issues when it comes to corrupted or poorly configured User.config files. This process is also helpful for resetting the application to a state similar to the default way it is installed as when the user.config files are missing, CardExchange will attempt to create new ones that may work better and resolve any issues you may be having.

How to Flush CardExchange AppData

  1. Open the Run command window by holding Win + R. You can also tap the Win key to open the Start Menu and start typing to search.

  2. In the Run command box, type in “AppData”. Hit OK

  3. There will be three folders: Local, LocalLow, and Roaming. There are CardExchange Producer folders in Local, and Roaming folders. There is a CardExchange Solutions folder in both.

    1. The “Local\CardExchange Solutions\” folder contains user configuration settings for the Application CardExchange.Gateway.exe, and settings for CardExchange.Config.exe, our configuration tool.

    2. The “Roaming\CardExchange Solutions\” folder contains user settings for the Card Designer window

  4. You can delete these folders in order to reset the settings, and on the next application startup, CardExchange Producer will remake those files depending on how you modify the application from then on.

As always, if you are experiencing the same issue and you believe there is a user configuration issue, please contact our Support team at Support@cardexchangesolutions.com
