Note: Before you begin, you will need to get your Certificate from HID Fargo Connect, and send it to support@cardexchangesolutions.com so that we can upload your certificate to our server, and generate a Certificate Thumbprint for you to use when configuring the connection.
To use the HID® Fargo Connect add-in you must first have a Press subscription then configure CardExchange® Cloud suite to connect to your instance of HID® Fargo Connect.
Open CardExchange® Admin, and go to Add-ins->HID-Connect->General in the left pane. Then click on the Edit button in the top left to edit the HID® Fargo Connect connection settings.


To edit these settings, you will first need to enable HID® Fargo Connect by toggling the option at the top of the screen:

Next you need to configure the connection settings.
Server API Key: You will need to get your API key through the Fargo Connect software.
Server URL: Unless otherwise configured, the default URL that should be used is:
https://hfc-api.hidglobal.com:18443
For test and development instances of HID Fargo Connect, you should use this URL instead: https://hfc-api-pi.hidglobal.com:18443
Certificate thumb: You will need to obtain your certificate and password from HID and send it to CardExchange Inc so that we can upload it in Azure, we can then provide you the correct Certificate Thumbprint to use.
Date Format: This setting is used to configure how date fields are sent to their respective mapped fields on your template. Simply choose the desired format from this dropdown.
Click on the Save button at the bottom to save your settings.
Note: When you save these settings, the Organization Name and Organization Id will automatically fill in from data within your HID Fargo Connect Instance.
Go to CardExchange® Admin Center, and select Add-ins, HID Connect, then Templates from the pane on the left.
Finally, click on the plus button in the top right to add a Template.

A separate pane will open on the left hand side:


Production Profile: This information comes from your HID Fargo Connect portal, select the correct item from the dropdown.
Production Template: This information comes from your HID Fargo Connect portal, select the correct item from the dropdown.
Profile: These are the profiles that you have defined within CardExchange® Cloud Suite. Select the correct item from the dropdown box. Note: You can review, add, and edit the Profiles within Cloud Admin under Setup -> Controller -> Profiles.
Click on the Save button to save your settings and close the window.
Now that there has been a template added, you will see it appear in the list. Click on the Mappings button on the Template entry.


Next you will see the Mappings window open.


The fields from On Production Template are the ones found within the HID Fargo Connect portal.
Fields from On Entity are the fields defined within CardExchange® Cloud Suite. Note: You can rename these fields from within CardExchange® Admin, Setup -> Controller -> Custom Field Labels
Click on the Save button to save your settings and close the window.
We have now configured HID® Fargo Connect. Now we prepare a user record to be printed.
In CardExchange® Controller, go to People, add a Person, or select an existing one. Make sure that your data is correct in Personal Details. Then you can add a Profile to the record. Be sure to select the correct one that you have mapped within the Template configuration.

Click on the Credentials tab. If you do not have the Auto Create Credential turned on, then Create a Credential by clicking the + button.

Fill in the information, and click create.
Next, you must approve the record for Production by going to Production -> Approve for Production.
Check the box next to the record you would like to print, and select Approve to Production.

You will then be presented with a dropdown box to select your printer, which is configured within the HID® Fargo Connect portal. Select the proper printer, and click on the Print button.

The records will stay in the Print tab until printed. If the print job is successful they will progress to the approve for issuance tab, you can then approve and activate the credentials as required. If the print job is not successful or is cancelled, it will move back to the approve for issuance tab.
